Thy is a second year Human Biology and History major. She is interested in nursing, specifically in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology. On campus, Thy is an assistant coordinator for Pre-Health Conference, does research at the Hamada Lab, is part of the Juvenile Caduceus Clinic, and volunteers at the LGBTQIA+ resource center in the SCC. When she isn’t working on campus, she loves to crochet, listen to music, and spend time with her friends. A fun fact about Thy is that she’s been crocheting since she was six years old.
What advice do you have for pre-health aggies?
A piece of advice for pre-health aggies is to explore. There are so many pre-health fields that you can pursue and the options to explore such fields are endless at Davis. We have so many clubs, organizations, and opportunities (like the Pre-Health Conference or workshops run by HPA) that allow you to find out what you want to pursue in the future.
Is there anything you wish you would have done differently in your pre-health career?
One thing I wish I had done differently is to not doubt myself so early on. I felt really hesitant in pursuing my pre-health journey because I didn’t go to a nursing school right away. I felt stumped and doubted that there was any chance of pursuing nursing after undergrad. In reality, there are so many avenues to get to my end goal of nursing, even if they don’t seem so ‘traditional’. There’s always a path to get you to your end goal of any pre-health career.
What has been your favorite memory at UC Davis?
My favorite memory at UC Davis is Picnic Day 2024. I made some of the best memories I’ve had with my friends from making liquid nitrogen sorbet to having a picnic on Picnic Day.
What are you most excited about working at HPA?
I’m most excited about working with the amazing staff and peer advisors. I have worked with them before, regarding my own pre-health journey and the Pre-Health conference, and have had such a fun time. It’s always so awesome to see how dedicated everyone is to help students with getting to their pre-health goals.
