Peer Advisors

Tanvi Chokshi

  • Medicine & Veterinary Medicine
Tanvi Chokshi is a peer advisor for medicine and veterinary medicine. She is a fourth year pre-medical student pursing a Cell Biology Major and Spanish Minor. Along with advising, she is the Interactive Programming Coordinator for the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference. She is a part of two molecular research labs, which are part of the UCDSOM Neuroscience Department and UCDSOVM Ophthalmology Department. She is currently the co-president of the Emergency Medicine Xperience Club and Jhankaar Acapella at UC Davis.

Karen Draper

  • Dentistry
Karen is a fourth year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She hopes to go to dental school. In addition to being a peer advisor she is also a co-coordinator for the Pre-Health Ambassador Network (PHAN) an organization within HPA. She also helps coordinate the High School Pre-Health Symposium. Karen attended the 2018 ADEA GoDental Recruitment Event in Orlando where she saw a mock interview and spoke with dental school admissions representatives. She also volunteers at dental events whenever she can.

Linda Chen

  • Dentistry, Pharmacy, & Nursing
Linda Chen is a fourth year majoring in Psychology and Communications. In addition to working for HPA, she is a research assistant for the AIR Lab at the MIND Institute where they work primarily with the ADHD population. She also currently volunteers with the SmileSavers program in the YOLO and Sacramento County giving presentations and dental screenings to elementary school children. In her free time, she loves to craft and play mahjong with her family

Edward Pang

  • Nursing and Physician Assistant
Edward Pang is going to be a fourth-year Human Development major. He aspires to become a pediatric nurse. Currently, he is the Vice President of the Nursing Club at UCD. He discovered his passion for helping pre-health students learn about the path to nursing after spending a year interacting with pre-nursing students. In the past, he has volunteered at UCDMC in the cardiology department alongside other nurses through a Health-Related Internship. During his free time, he enjoys exercising at the gym and connecting with friends and family over food and drinks.

Adrienne Chan

  • Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Genetic Counseling, Physical Therapy, and Pharmacy
Adrienne Chan began at HPA at the front desk and now advises for Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Genetic Counseling, and Speech-Language Pathology. She will be graduating Winter 2019 with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She is currently doing research for a clinical trial for the UCDMC Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department for telepsychiatry. She considers HPA to be her family, and she loves all the people she has met and worked with! She aspires to clear any confusion surrounding how to get into one’s desired health profession.

Zeltzin Serrano

  • Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and Chiropractic Medicine
Zeltzin is a Third-Year English major with a possible emphasis on Creative Writing, and she hopes to become a Podiatrist one day. She works at HPA as a Peer Advisor for Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, and Chiro pre-requisites and experiences. She is currently an ambassador for the Pre-Health Ambassador Network (PHAN). In her free time, she enjoys painting, reading, spending time with friends, and binge-watching Netflix shows.

Tessa Ferrari

  • Veterinary Medicine
Tessa is a third year Animal Science major with a specialization in companion animals. She plans to attend Veterinary School on the west coast in the near future. She does recreational research with a professor looking at different qualities of sheep, such as body condition scores. She is also starting a new project about predicting quality of wool using various techniques. Previously, she has volunteered in UC Davis Spay Day and interned at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine facility in the ophthalmology department. In her free time, she likes to go on hikes, kayak, and is the team captain for the UC Davis Archery Team.

Lillian Wu

  • Physician Assistant and Nursing
Lillian is a second year Biopsychology major. She hopes to attend PA school and go into OB/GYN or Family Medicine. Outside of advising for HPA, she is part of the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference Leadership Team as the Social Media & Web Coordinator. She also actively participates in service events through her involvement in her pre-health sorority. In her free time, she loves to walk her dog, exercise, cook, and spend time with friends and family.

Claudia Tang

  • Dentistry, Optometry, and Public Health
Claudia is a peer advisor for Dentistry. She is third year majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and minoring in Chinese. In addition to being a pre-dental peer advisor, Claudia has also been involved with planning the UC Davis Pre-Health Conference for the past 2 years as the Chair of Health Professions and the Assistant Coordinator of Interactive Programming. Furthermore, she is currently working at the Veterinary Institute for Regenerative Cures, helping to manage the department website and social media page. This past summer, she attended the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Washington, Seattle as a dental scholar. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with the Davis Aggie Lions Club, playing volleyball, and baking.
